The 22nd Mile

I've often heard that in a marathon, the 22nd mile is the hardest.  Sure, you're almost to the end, but your strength is gone, you're dead tired, your breath is hard in coming, and you are ready to fall over.
But somehow you keep running. Your legs know what to do and keep doing it.  Your lungs know what to do and keep doing it.  Your body keeps going, even when your mind is screaming at you to stop.

Right now, I am twenty-three days away from the National Bible Bee contest in Schaumburg, Illinois.  And I feel like I'm in the 22nd mile.  My spirit starts saying, "I am too tired.  I am ready to be done.  I can't."

But I'm still "running."

My heart knows and is trusting that my strength will be renewed like the eagles.  I'm no longer in manual mode, I've turned over the controls to the Lord.  My strength is gone, but His strength is perfect and over-aboundingly sufficient.

It's good to be at this point of surrender.  I know without a shadow of a doubt that I cannot keep going.  But my God can do it through me.  It is when I am running on His strength that He is glorified.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
"And He said to me, 'My Grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Therefore, most gladly, I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  Therefore, I take pleasures in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake, for when I am weak, then I am strong.'"

The church it's taking place at...is it Bethel Baptist Church? If so, I've actually visited that church before. My youth group was on it's way to Faith Baptist Bible College for our college tour when I was in High School, and we stopped by and they let us stay the night at the church. That's a really nice church!

Anyways...I just prayed for you with this "Bible Bee"...I hope everything goes well with it. Keep pressing on!

The contest is actually at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center. But Bethel IS a good church. I was at another contest there earlier in the summer, a friend of mine's grandparents go there and my dad actually works at Faith Baptist Bible College:) Small world. Thanks for the prayer support! I really appreciate it!
God is so great! My trials seem so small in comparison to the whole vast world around me, but they are what He has given me to help me grow. I am thankful:)

Soph, I know it's been what seems like ages since you wrote this, but I searched Bible bee under your blog just to see what would come up and I read this again. I need to let you know that this is exactly where I am with TFC right now, and that this post is being a special encouragement to me now! Thanks for your tender heart to the Lord, and faithfulness to Him! You're continually a blessing...not just to me, but to many people! I love you!
