God is not aloof

For the past few days, weeks or months, I have felt dry, and like God is far away. The Bible didn't seem AS penetrating, in fact, nothing was penetrating. I shared this with my parents last night, and my daddy encouraged me to keep seeking, to tenaciously cling to God and His Word until He revealed Himself to me again.
So this morning, I rose "early" (on Christmas break, early is more like 8:00:) determined to be satisfied and refreshed by the Word. I sat down with my study Bible and just sat there. Then the Lord brought this verse to mind. "Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me will all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:12-13)
My heart welled up with praise! "I WILL listen!" "You WILL find Me!" We have a faithful God who will not leave us out in the cold when we are so busy that we forget to seek Him. When we turn back to Him and recognize that joy and happiness and fulfillment come only from Him...we WILL find Him.  He is not aloof and cold--He is near to those who are discouraged and tired! Remember the Incarnation--He came to us! Remember the cross--God loves us with a personal, passionate love!
These are the other verses that my GOD used to strengthen my heart this morning:

I count all things loss..."that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained or am already perfected,
but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Phil 3:11-14

"Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God Who works in you, both to will and work for His good pleasure!" Phil. 2:12-13

Praising the Lord for His Word which is alive, and fills my soul with rejoicing.
